Sam: Nothing… You don’t remember, do you? *drama* Does “Luke, I have to go, we’re moving” ring a bell?
Luke: Yeeeeeee…. *trails off* No… maybe?
Sam: Ugh, you’re hopeless… Walk me home then?

Luke: Uhmm…
Sam: Shut up! I never knew you were such a jerk! By golly! Bullying little children, bah! For heaven’s sake, you even stop talking to me for minutes just to drool after other women that pass us by!

Sam: The what?
Friend 3: I believe she said the witch has finally found her bark
Sam: Anne, who is this girl?
Anne: This is Friend number 3, a British Exchange student.
Friend 3: A pleasure to meet you!
Anne: We do not associate with the enemy
Friends 1&2: Yeah! What does associate mean?
Sam: I have no time for this!
Anne: You keep your paws off of my boy, squirt!
Sam: YOUR BOY?! *slaps Anne*
Friends 1, 2 and 3: Omigosh, omigosh, omigosh! Anne, are you alright?
Anne: Oh you did not just slap me, mudfish!
Friends 1 & 2: Mudfish! Ahhahahaha!
Friend 3: Mudfish! Ahhaha, *whispers* what’s so funny?
Anne: Stick-thin, corpse-pale, it’s as if you’re the corpse bride!
Friends 1 & 2: EWWW!
Friend 3: Oh my god! Is she a vampire?!
Anne: I wouldn’t be surprised if they called you Count Dorkula!
Sam: Better that than VILL-ANNE!
Anne: Girls!
Friends 1, 2 and 3: *slaps Sam* EW!
Friend 2: Whatever Major Loser!
Friend 3: You’re like so totally stale water!

Sam: No, it’s just, Luke is with Anne again… I don’t feel any love for him anymore…
James: *stands up suddenly* What? But… aren’t you both single right now?
Sam: Well, technically yeah… although… Agh! I just don’t love him anymore… but it hurts every time I see him and it’s as though he’s not even affected!
James: Well, Sam, if ever you need anyone… *sings I’ll be*
(End Scene)

Anne and Posse: *Passes Sam by corridor and knocks over her books*
Sam: What is WRONG with you?
Anne: What is wrong with YOU?
Friend 1: Look, Sam dropped her books!
Friend 2: Haha! Look, she can’t even hold them
Friend 3: Ooooohhh… Ahhh!
Sam: God, I don’t want a fight, Anne! If you’re going to say something to me, tell it to my face!
Anne: Fine, Girls!
Friends 1-3: You started it!
Anne: Correct. Exhibit B?
Friend 2: You took Anne’s boyfriend from her!
Anne: Exhibit C?
Friends 1&2: *look at Friend 3*
Friend 3: Oh… *pulls out list* You are a complete loser. You are a zit that grew a face. *Paper unravels and becomes a long list*
Anne: In conclusion?
Friends 1-3: You don’t deserve to be talked to!
Anne: Exactly *kicks Sam’s books to the side and passes James while walking*

Friends 1-3: Hmph!
James: *bends down to pick up Sam’s books. Accidentally holds Sam’s hand. Sings Ikaw Lamang*
Scene 7
(A spark has been seen between the two. Now, it’s up to James to do what he has to)
James: Listen, Luke, I know you’re technically single and you have every right to date Anne…
Luke: I know, but I feel so bad for Sam… Well, whatever love there was at childhood has faded… maybe because I found out that we had too little in common.
James: Promise me something, Luke.
Luke: What?
James: For Sam’s sake, try to set things right.
Teacher: Good morning—Class C
Anne: Out of my way!
Friend 1: Out of her way!
Friend 2: Move it!
Teacher: Pop quiz worth 99% of your final final grade! Define love!
Sam: This is eerily familiar
Teacher: Samantha!
Sam: Umm.. I guess love’s that feeling… *looks at Luke shrugs* I don’t-- *looks at James* It’s that feeling of butterflies in your stomach when you look at someone…
Teacher: James!
James: Love is humility, I guess, as well as prayer, devotion to study, humility, service, many other values. Love is friendship; I guess all our values eventually boil down to love.
Teacher: Well said, Kako!
Gee Kako: Well, working up from last time’s complete failure of communicating the meaning of love, I have redone my calculations and now I find that love is the value of the speed of light multiplied by one thousand divided by the value of X raised to one times ten raised to googol plus googol y—
Teacher: That is enough! Anne!
Anne: love? Who needs love?
Friend 1: Yeah!
Anne: I have all the money in the world to splurge! I don’t need friends *pushes Friend 2*
Friend 3: You’re a horrible person, Anne, and I’m ashamed to call you a friend!
Anne: Unless you haven’t been listening, I don’t NEED you.
Teacher: Anne! We will discuss this later. Luke!
Luke: Love, I think, means forgiveness. There’s nothing love can’t do, same as forgiveness. I think I’d rest assured, knowing I’m loved if a certain someone forgives me.
Sam: *runs out of the room*
Scene 8
(Outside the room)
James: Sam, are you alright? *embraces Sam*
Sam: I don’t know what this feeling is, but I feel as though I’m in heaven when I’m with you…
James: Sam?
Sam: James, I know, I’m confused…
Anne: *follows the two outside* Break it up!
Sam: What now? Anne?
Anne: I’m not gonna allow you to be happy! NOT AFTER ALL YOU DID!
Sam: You’re just jealous that I have real friends.
Anne: Real friends, real schmends. I could bring them to my side without much effort! Especially you SPESHUL JAAAMEEESSS
Sam: You’re not going to insult my friends nor are you going to take them away! You’ve taken everything, Anne, everything except my ability to love. You’re a cold, cold hearted person. That’s going to be what ruins you!
Anne: Why you little! *grabs Sam’s hair*
Luke: *Jumps in and separates the two but inadvertently knocks Sam to the ground* Anne, this has to stop!
Anne: Why? Because your precious little Sam is getting hurt? WELL BOO-HOO FOR YOU!
Luke: Don’t you see, Anne? Sam was trying to get things fixed.
Anne: Why do you care more for her? I thought you loved me?
Luke: I do, Anne, but not this way. You’re a much sweeter person than anyone here knows and I know you know that.
Anne: What makes you think you can say I can’t take my revenge?
(end scene)
Scene 9
(Sam is having a dream again)
God: Welcome back, Sam.
Sam: Father?
God: Yes, It’s me. Why do you come?
Sam: I don’t know… I just want to finish things. I want things to quiet down before I… before… Well, you know.
God: Ahh, that… Well, there’s only one way to solve things. Love.
Sam: Wait, I have to fall in LOVE with Anne?
God: No, Sam, love isn’t just that. It has everything to do with the world. What kept you from running away from home when your mom told you the news?
Sam: I loved my family…
God: What kept you from being bitter when you were chased out from the orphanage eight months ago?
Sam: I loved the children there… I see…
God: What keeps you from being angry at Luke?
Sam: I love him as a friend…
God: What makes you so comfortable with James?
Sam: I guess I love him…
God: So, you see? There’s only one way to solve the problem with Anne. Love.
(end scene)
Scene 10
(Sam wakes up)
Anne: What makes you think you can say I can’t take my revenge?
Luke: Nothing! But Anne! Look!
Sam: No, let her, Luke. Anne, I want to be friends, but I cannot if you close your heart to me.
Anne: Bah! Don’t try to sweet talk me!
Sam: Fine, then slap me.
Anne: *slaps*
Sam: Thank you
Anne: Now you slap me!
Sam: No. Slap the other cheek.
Anne: *tries to slap but can’t* whatever. Come on, Luke.
Luke: Nice work, Sam.
Sam: James?
James: Yeah?
Sam: I lo…
James: You what?
Sam: I’m leaving…
James: What?!
Scene 11
(Sam’s departure)
Friend 3: Did you have to go on the same day as me?
Sam: haha, Yeah…
*Anne comes around the corner*
Friend 3: Ohhh… Here comes the witch.
Sam: I wouldn’t say that
Anne: Hey.
Sam: Hey.
Anne: I’m S-s-sorry! *tries to hug Sam* Errr, nevermind.
Sam: It’s okay
Anne: You know, you’re alright. Maybe when you come back we can actually be friends.
Sam: I hope so.
Luke: James said he couldn’t come. He said he was never good at goodbyes. Asked me to give you this, actually *hands her a letter*
Sam: Oh… I knew it. Give him this. *hands him a slip of paper*
Luke: I on the other hand, want to see you one last time. I’m sorry for the way I acted…
Sam: You know, all is forgiven. Be at rest. Bye! *walks off stage in tears*
(Later On)
Luke: Dude, Sam asked me to give this to you.
James: Hmm…? What is this?
Luke: Why are you smiling like a deranged idiot?
James: Let’s just say it’s the best day of my life.
James: Let’s just say it’s the best day of my life.
Luke: what’s on the paper?
James: Three words “I Love You”
Scene 12
(Two weeks later)
Mother: Sam! Stop moping and clean your room!
Sam: Yes mom! *sees James’ letter* well, what is this? *reads*
Umm… Hi, Sam… Sorry I couldn’t get to your departure.
I just can’t bear seeing you leave.
*starts blending with James’ voice*
You know, you’re the best friend I’ve had
You’re the pillar I lean on, in times of trouble…
*James’ voice*
You know… I love you…
Don’t worry, we’ll see each other soon…
Dad’s going to get transferred to the same region, and I’m going to be studying in the same school as you soon.
I know you’re reading this, imagining that It’s my voice saying it to you. Now say the next part with me.
*In unison*
I hate goodbyes… Because bittersweet endings just make me want to break down and cry…
I’ll miss you, for now, but guess what, Fate has made it so that our paths cross again.
That’s it for now.
Love,
James
